Membership in DFGAHO is open to all countries that are members of the United Nations, upon acceptance of the Organization’s Constitution.

Other non-UN countries may also be admitted as members, provided their application is approved by a simple majority of the DFGAHO General Assembly.

Territories that do not manage their own international relations may be admitted as Associate Members, based on an application submitted on their behalf by the Member State or authority responsible for their external affairs.

Currently, DFGAHO comprises 194 Member States, which are organized by regional distribution for the purposes of coordination, governance, and collaboration.
