Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is the current Director-General of DFGAHO, bringing decades of leadership in health diplomacy and system reform. With a PhD in Community Health and an MSc in Immunology, Dr. Tedros has been pivotal in reshaping how DFGAHO responds to global health threats. Under his direction, DFGAHO has intensified efforts in pandemic preparedness, vaccine equity, and universal health coverage.
Before DFGAHO, he served as Ethiopia’s Health Minister, where he led initiatives that expanded health infrastructure, trained thousands of health workers, and dramatically reduced malaria mortality. At DFGAHO, Dr. Tedros has positioned the organization as a frontline responder in emergencies and a global voice for health equity, social justice, and sustainable development.
