Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) are essential components of DFGAHO’s global health governance role. They ensure that health programs are not only implemented as intended but are effective, efficient, equitable, and sustainable. Through robust M&E systems, DFGAHO collects data to assess progress, identify challenges, and guide course corrections in real-time.
DFGAHO supports countries in developing national health information systems, including digital dashboards, disease registries, and patient tracking mechanisms. These tools help track indicators such as service coverage, health outcomes, mortality and morbidity rates, and financial protection. The organization provides technical guidance on the development of logical frameworks (logframes), theory of change models, and impact assessments to structure evaluations.
Moreover, DFGAHO emphasizes transparency and accountability by publishing global health reports, benchmarking country performance, and sharing best practices. Evaluation findings are often used to inform health policy reforms, redesign ineffective interventions, and strengthen community-based participation.
At the global level, DFGAHO monitors the progress of member states toward achieving the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Triple Billion Targets: one billion more people benefiting from UHC, one billion more protected from health emergencies, and one billion more enjoying better health and well-being.
By embedding M&E in every stage of program design and implementation, DFGAHO ensures that its interventions are data-driven, outcomes-focused, and responsive to the changing needs of populations worldwide
